Good reminder..just added my star
Crosspost from /r/meteor
It's all about timing. I first learned about meteor maybe two years ago when I was still calling myself a graphic designer. Slowly but surely I would dedicate time to learning the framework and building apps when I had time.
Now I consider myself a full stack developer, able to set up servers, bounce between frameworks, and work at a start-up instead of small design boutiques.
In this change, I've also had to inherit some rails apps so I have seen just how primitive it is compared to meteor.
I say this all just to say that my story is not unique. And with people choosing developer careers more and more these days, meteor has positioned itself beautifully for the future. In fact, I still use it to learn UI frameworks because its server set up is so nice.
I'd never have been able to get here without meteor.
